Instagram Movie Reviews #ShortandSuccinct #Movies

If you know people are going to watch a film, and you’re interested in the art of films and filmmaking it’s a great idea to try reviewing films. A good or not so good film deserves a review, but sometimes the hype of a movie doesn’t always mean it’s going to be a great film.

A good review should hold the attention of the reader and give them a reason to believe you and inform them about the film. It’s important to provide an original opinion while not spoiling the movie and without delivering too much of the plot. I don’t, spend much time fleshing out the plot. I keep it short and succinct.

List of my Instagram reviews from this year so far.

12 Strong Movie Review: It’s not hard to tell from the promo poster that this is an American war drama film with one glaring difference, horses 🐴 @chrishemsworth respects the role he plays as Captain Mitch Nelson and provides us with a solid, honest and respectful version of the real solder. His supporting cast does just as much justice in portraying his team of soldiers who fought along side him. This is a fantastic story about a team of special forces and the alliance of horse warriors in Afghanistan. It’s filled with soldiers riding into battle on horses with action-packed scenes including machine guns firing, bombs exploding and soldiers in the line of fire. If you enjoy war dramas with an honest and accurate portrayal of a real-life story as the foundation, then this is a film for you. I thoroughly enjoyed it. 3 1/2 stars out of 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 🌤. #filmreview

Black Panther Movie Review: Loved this film. A delight to see a Marvel superhero film filled with culture and based around a militaristic monarchy and democratic rationale in an African Eden. Chadwick Boseman’s performance was flawless as Black Panther. Alongside a largely female cast, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia and Danai Gurira as Okoye and many more who all added a proud cultural and country loyalty to the story. For me, this was one of the more realistic and relatable films from Marvel. Yes, less actioned-packed but still visually pleasing. 4 out of 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Winchester Movie Review: Good film. #winchester Inspired by real events or instead based on true events. Helen Mirren delivers a strong performance as Sarah. I did like Jason Clark’s performance as Dr Eric Price. A few good frights in this one but not terrifying by any means. One of those supernatural dramas that keeps you entertained as the film progresses. 3 out of 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ for me.

Jurassic World Movie Review: Well, the poster is fantastic. There were a lot of things I loved about this film and a lot of things I didn’t. The park is gone… I’m sad about that. But there is promise in knowing something new is on the way. Now we enter a new business of dinosaurs and tampering with nature. So people are chasing dinosaurs and dinosaurs are hunting people. Which has a thrill to it, right? Clair Dearing (Ms Howard) and Chris Pratt playing (Owen Grady) reunite, and we do love them together again. We have a few new additions too. All attempting to provide some tongue-in-cheek humour but not all of it works. What I missed was the wonder and terror, alongside the ability to draw us in with empathy for these beloved and sometimes terrifying beasts. It is there but not like it used to be in the storytelling. While the computer-generated images thrill us the story is becoming just a zoo. Not so much fun. 2 1/2 stars out of five for me. ⭐️ ⭐️ ✨ In additions, it was wonderful to see a cinema filled with children, parents, grandparents, uncles and aunties all sitting down to watch dinosaurs and people engage in playing hide-and-seek. 😮

The Equalizer 2 Movie Review: When horrible people cross Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) we know that sets the tone for really dangerous liaisons. We also see The Equalizer (first film) foundations draw on moralising the murder and punish the wrongdoers and then all will be right in Robert’s world. This film could have been the action-packed scene by scene, suspense building one story sequel to the last, but instead, it took another route. There are several story Bs in this film which slowed the pace down somewhat. That’s not to say there isn’t some dominant narrative thought put into this film. Mentoring. Protecting. Threads of helpful resolution and killing, lots of execution, but was all that needed? For some fans of the first film, it might be too much unpacking causing an overflow of story. There is some excellent suspense building with the threat of a pending hurricane, and we do enjoy watching Robert’s usual intelligent, trained to know and his devout calmness in action. But not everyone will appreciate the complexity of more than one story in one film. You will either enjoy this film or leave somewhat disappointed. 3 1/2 stars out of 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 💫 from me.

Mission Impossible Fallout Movie Review: Fallout, another mission that’s, of course, impossible if you choose to accept it. Tom Cruise as the, ‘I will get the job done’ Ethan Hunt, does a fabulous job in this film. It’s a perfect follow on from Rogue Nation. The team is back, and we do love Benji (Simon Pegg) and Luther (Ving Rhames). I found the plot to be fairly solid with the usual ‘something stolen’ causing the collapse of our World Order. The action accompanying the story is extremely well choreographed, with dizzy drives and seamless flight scenes. The stunts sequences are also extremely well choreographed and crazy cool. We are pinned down to secrets, speed and seconds in this film, and it’s worth watching to see who might double cross who. Tom’s magnetism and his passion for his craft is top quality in this film. Indeed, this series is one of the greatest film franchises today and Mission Impossible: Fallout won’t be the last. 4 out of 5 stars from me. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Hereditary Movie Review: It’s definitely a slow horror. Creaky house and a family riddled with catastrophe. What do you do about that? You try to fix it of course. Well, that’s the idea. Maybe that’s not so easy with a curse hanging around, hey? Was this film scary? Was I white-knuckling the armrest on the seat? No, I found it intriguing with a “couldn’t look away” appeal. But not terrifying for me. Granted I grew up with horror as my preferred viewing, so it has to be run for your life stuff for me. This was a slow burn but not without a few little frights. Powerful performance by Toni Collette. She gave everything, and it was convincing. One of the better slow burn horrors to grace the big screen this year. There definitely was a monster in the house. #horrormovies 3 out of 5 from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
