The End of a Series. Celebration and Sadness.

I don’t know where to begin when I have come to an end. The beginning was back in 2013 when the first book was published. But was that truly the beginning or more the middle when writing a book?

The first sentence of the first book starts with, “Under the ground in the land of Sahas, in a neat, well-kept home, lived a family.” That’s where we first met Mai, her family and her brother, Long. The first book introduces the Starchild, a little boy who is part of a colossal prophecy. Their first adventure uncovers a lot about each of them and another new friend, Sahib, who hides a huge secret. Of course, we get the first glimpse of one of the antagonists in the series, two playing a serious part and sharing the antagonist’s storyline.

Each book ventures into a new nation to uncover new things about the prophecy and builds on nurturing the friendships of four young people. In the second book, they are challenged with unravelling the mystery of the Silvershade. The children tap into their natural curiosity and work to increase their self-assurance, fortitude, and perseverance.

The third book takes us searching for help in the land of ice. When one of the four falls ill, the three remaining children must figure out how to help. Their quest will take them through dangerous terrain where they risk losing their lives. To help her brother, Mai assumes the most significant burden.

The dark force of Piceptus is still growing stronger as all of this is taking place. In book four, they are searching for the elusive being known as the Falcon Guard. Fighting in a rebellion against a brutal governor in the city of Calor gives them experience with what war may be like. By the time this adventure is over, the army of Piceptus has been set free, and the bloodiest of battles is about to break out.

The war is the focus of the fifth and last adventure in the series. The Black Battle, as its name suggests, places the children at the centre of the conflict from the outset. This series has always been their adventure, and they are crucial in discovering how to make a strategy that will aid in the war effort. The horror and grief of war are not without some sadness. Now is their chance to put what they learned from their previous travels to work.

I hope you will join me in the fifth book’s upcoming book promotions and cover reveals which will begin next year.
